Fine Gael cosy’s up to developers, calls for more public sector cuts

18 Jul

As reported in today’s Sunday Independent, Fine Gael has been courting developers who are dumping their debt into NAMA. Meanwhile, Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has claimed that cutting public sector numbers by 10,000 and outsourcing public services to the private sector would boost state coffers by €1.8bn.

Deputy Jimmy Deenihan has also confirmed that Fine Gael will make greater cuts to public services than Fianna Fail. Speaking recently on the Tonight With Vincent Browne programme the Kerry North TD claimed that Fine Gael would achieve much deeper savings in public services than the present Fianna Fail/Green government. Deputy Deenihan did not specify how these cuts would be made to health, education and other public services in Kerry.
